Anthony Daly has been ratified in the post of Dublin senior hurling manager for a further two seasons.
The Clare native, and former Banner County boss, was reappointed for 2011 and 2012 by the Dublin County Committee after a Monday night meeting at Parnell Park. His selection team of Ciaran Hetherton, Richie Stakelum and Vincent Teehan was also reappointed.
Daly took the Dublin post following the 2008 Championship and the side have retained their National League Division One status since, while also reaching a first Leinster final for 18 years in 2009. They lost to Kilkenny on that occasion, but did not disgrace themselves, though the subsequent All-Ireland quarter-final loss to Limerick was disappointing.
The Dubs, led by gifted stars such as Alan McCrabbe and David O’Callaghan, impressed once more in 2010 but were well beaten by Kilkenny in the Leinster semi-final and then suffered a surprise loss to Antrim in the qualifiers.
However, there is no question that the Boys in Blue have made great strides under the innovative Daly and the Dublin powers that be were more than willing to extend his tenure when they met on Monday night.
It was widely expected that he would stay on as his previous deal was due to run until 2011 anyway, and there are a host of young players coming through to further boost the senior side over the next two years.
