Bohemians manager Pat Fenlon has praised the inner strength his team has shown to drag themselves back to the top of the Airtricity League.
The Gypsies beat St Pat’s 1-0 at Richmond Park on Saturday while across Dublin, Shamrock Rovers threw away a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 to Sporting Fingal. The results meant the Phibsboro side leapfrogged their arch-rivals at the top of the table with just two games left.
“We showed great character today, we didn't play particularly well but we dug in and defended really well. We're delighted with the three points because that's what we came to do.”
Fenlon admitted that he had set a target of points that he believed would be good enough to win a third title in a row and that his side are on track to meet it.
“It makes it interesting. Six or seven weeks ago we put a list of fixtures up and had a points tally and we said we want to see can we get to the last couple of games for the season and keep it alive.”
