It was a mixed night for Maurice Edu at Ibrox as he scored for both sides in a 1-1 draw between Rangers and Valencia.
Rangers would arguably have settled for a point with the Spanish high-flyers before the game, but they were given cause for optimism when Edu opened the scoring on 34 minutes.
Walter Smith's side had been the better team and found Cesar Sanchez in fine form in the Valencia goal, but there was nothing the keeper could do when Vladimir Weiss sent in a corner and Edu rose above everyone to head home.
The American almost made it 2-0 shortly afterwards but his long distance shot hit the post.
One minute into the second half, Valencia were level. Tino Costa sent a ball into the Gers' box and Edu, much to his horror, headed the ball into the back of his own net.
Madjid Bougherra almost provided a goal for Kenny Miller but Sanchez was alert to the danger, with the veteran 'keeper also tipping a Steven Davis effort over the bar.
Allen McGregor came to the rescue of Rangers in injury time with a superb save to deny substitute Roberto Soldado as the tie ended level.
