Altintop to move to Madrid

by Shane Keegan , 20 May 2011

Turkish International Hamit Altintop is set to join Real Madrid for the next four seasons after the Spanish club agreed a deal with Bayern Munich.

The 28 year old has been playing with Bayern Munich since 2007 and played against Jose Mourihno and his Inter side in the 2010 Champions League final.

He is a versatile midfielder who can play anywhere in the midfield, as well as being able to play on both wings. He has played 14 times for Bayern this season, scoring twice.

He has been capped 64 times for Turkey and has scored six goals for his country. He has also won seven medals during his time in Germany; one for the winning the German Cup with Schalke in 2005, and the remaining six with Bayern Munich (2 Bundesliga, 2 German Cups, 1 Super Cup and 1League Cup).

The Turkish International’s other accolades also include winning last year’s FIFA Puskas award for his goal against Kazakhstan in a Euro 2012 qualifier. He was also named in the UEFA Euro 2008 Team of the Tournament.

He is the second player Real Madrid have managed to secure so far, with Nuri Sahin of Borussia Dortmund being the first.
