Former Juventus player Antonio Conte has been appointed as the new manager at the club following the departure of Luigi Del Neri.
Conte has been the favourite to replace Del Neri after Pavel Nedved turned the job down last week. The former Italy international has signed a two year contract that will see him stay in Turin until June 30, 2013.
It will be Conte’s job to turn 'The Old Lady' of Italian football into Serie A title contenders again after they had a disappointing season, in which they only managed to finish seventh.
Conte will be rejoining Bianconeri after he retired in 2004. Since then, he has managed various teams in Italy, and has succeeded in gaining promotion from the Serie B for both Puglia and Siena.
As a player, Conte won 14 trophies with Juventus in only 13 years, and managed to find the net 44 times in 419 appearances. He is a favourite of the fans and has always been seen as a leader.
"Antonio Conte has returned to Juventus. This time to lead them not from the pitch, but from the bench," said a statement on the club’s website.
"He is the new coach. Conte has signed a two-year contract that will tie him to the Bianconeri until June 30, 2013."
"We want to win, and we want to do it with Conte. He is the first piece of the jigsaw to return successful," it added.
