FIFA sponsors worried over scandal

by Shane Keegan , 31 May 2011

Visa have become the latest FIFA sponsor to speak out against the current corruption scandal that has rocked the football federation.

Other major sponsors that are also unhappy and disappointed with FIFA’s situation are Coca-Cola, Adidas and Emirates Airline.

Visa released a statement expressing their view on the current situation, which said;

“The current situation is clearly not good for the game and we ask that FIFA take all necessary steps to resolve the concerns that have been raised.”

Emirates Airline also released a statement in regards to the corruption scandal, in which they said;

“Emirates, like all football fans around the world, is disappointed with the issues that are currently surrounding the administration of the sport.”

“We hope that these issues will be resolved as soon as possible and the outcome will be in the interest of the game and sport in general.”

FIFA president Sepp Blatter is due to run for re-election unopposed tomorrow despite pressure from several countries to postpone the election until the scandal crisis has been resolved.

Blatter, however, has denied that there is a crisis and has described the problems as mere local difficulties.
