Milan cool on Aquilani approach

by Setanta Staff , 08 August 2011

The future of Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani is still up in the air after it was revealed that AC Milan have made no offer.

Aquilani joined the Reds from Roma in 2009 but has never been a regular starter for the Anfield side, with just two goals from 18 Premier League appearances to date.

The 27-year-old was seen as surplus to requirements last term and spent the season back in Italy on loan with Juventus.

The Rome-born schemer has been heavily linked with a move back to Serie A this summer, with Fiorentina thought to be interested in acquiring his services.

However, that move has apparently fallen through and reports suggested that Milan were about to enter the battle for his signature.

However, the player's agent, Franco Zavaglia, made it clear that there has been no contact from Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani.

"At the moment, Milan haven't made a move," he said.

"There have been Galliani's words but no other signals.

"I'm not saying what type of offer my client can get from Milan, whether it is a loan deal or a permanent move.

"We will wait."
