Bolton Wanderers are closing in on the signing of Birmingham City striker Cameron Jerome for a reported £3.5m.
It is understood that the fee could rise, depending on appearances and goals, to £6m, although the move is subject to Jerome proving his fitness to the Trotters' medical staff.
The 24-year-old suffered a heel injury during pre-season and Owen Coyle is anxious to know the full extend of the problem before pushing ahead with the transfer.
Jerome is back in light training, however, and the deal could be pushed through ahead of the weekend, as the mass exodus from St Andrew's continues following their relegation from the Premier League and well-documented off the field worries.
Stoke and Fulham have also shown an interest in the player during the summer, but it is believed that the former Cardiff frontman has his heart set on a switch to the Reebok Stadium.
