Harry not interested in England yet - Levy

by Michelle Fortune , 13 December 2011

Harry Redknapp has no interest in the England manager's job, 'at the present time' according to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

Redknapp is believed to be the frontrunner to succeed Fabio Capello when the Italian steps down as manager after next year's European Championships.

The Spurs boss has admitted in the past that he would find it hard to turn down the opportunity to manage his country, but Levy has moved to quell speculation by insisting Redknapp is completely focused on Tottenham.

"Harry has 18 months left on his contract," Redknapp is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.

"We have had a conversation that says as far as Harry is concerned, he is very happy here and that he doesn't particularly want to consider England at the present time.

"We will worry about that situation if it arises in the summer."

Tottenham's impressive start to the season has resulted in the White Hart Lane being referred to as title contenders. Their unbeaten run came to an end on Sunday when they went down 2-1 to Stoke at the Britannia Stadium but Levy insists they can still challenge for the title.

"I hope we have a great season and that we can finish in the top four or, who knows, maybe even higher. We want first," Levy declared.

"I spoke to Harry and told him not to be too despondent, because if we win our game in hand against Everton, we could be only four points behind Manchester City."
