McMenamin decision in January

by JP Lonergan , 26 December 2011

The future of Ryan McMenamin should become clearer after the turn of the year.

The long-serving Tyrone defender is due to return from honeymoon next month, when he should reveal if he intends to play on with the O’Neill County for another season.

Red Hand boss Mickey Harte has already lost several senior stars through retirement, and will hope to retain the fire of McMenamin in his squad as he looks to keep some experience on board during a period of transition for the county.

Pascal McConnell, Sean Cavanagh, Owen Mulligan, Martin Penrose, McMahon brothers Joe and Justin, Conor Gormley, Stephen O’Neill and Davy Harte are all still part of the Tyrone panel.

However, the likes of Brian Dooher, Brian McGuigan, Ciaran Gourley and Philip Jordan have walked away from an inter-county team that has won three Sam Maguire titles under Harte since 2003.
