Henrique deal still alive for Rangers

by Setanta Staff , 25 January 2012 football news

Queens Park Rangers could still sign Sao Paulo striker Henrique after it emerged that he has not been refused a work permit.

The west Londoners have been looking to bolster their striking ranks during the January transfer window and new boss Mark Hughes is keen to get the South American on board.

But reports surfaced earlier this week that he had been refused a work permit due to a lack of international experience.

However Sao Paulo insist that is not the case and the stumbling bock to any potential deal was over the terms of the transfer, with the FA only allowing the deal to go through if it was on a permanent basis, while Rangers were initially looking to bring the starlet to Loftus Road on loan.

Sao Paulo vice-president Joao Lopes admits there are problems with the proposed transfer but is adamant that they can be worked out.

"It was said that he was denied a transfer but this is not true, the FA would only authorise the deal if it was permanent," he told Globoesporte.

"The FA did not agree with the deal that was going on, so we will now meet again and try to come to an agreement."
