Double striker boost for Newcastle

by Setanta Staff , 26 January 2012 Double striker boost for Newcastle

Newcastle pair Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse will be available for the trip to Blackburn following Senegal's Africa Cup of Nations exit.

Senegal were amongst the pre-tournament favourites but after losing their first Africa Cup of Nations tie against Zambia they needed at least a point against co-hosts Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday to stand a chance to emerging from the group stages.

Equatorial Guinea grabbed a last-gasp 2-1 win to send Senegal crashing out and top scorer Ba and January signing Cisse, who is yet to make his Newcastle debut, will now return in time for the Premier League clash at Blackburn on Wednesday.

Senegal have to play their final Group A match against Libya on Sunday, meaning the pair will miss the FA Cup trip to Brighton on Sunday, but the Newcastle duo are set to return to the north east on Monday morning.
