Australian Open finalist Rafael Nadal believes Andy Murray has the ability to become number one in the world rankings this year.
The Scot produced an impressive performance against the current No.1 Novak Djokovic on Friday but the 24-year-old fell short against the Serb, losing the semi-final 6-3 3-6 6-7 (4-7) 6-1 7-5.
Murray is still looking to break his duck in Grand Slam competitions, as he continues to struggle against the likes of Djokovic and Nadal in major tournaments.
Having seen off old rival Roger Federer, Nadal is now set for the final of the Australian Open on Sunday, with Djokovic standing between him and his 11th Grand Slam title.
The Spaniard has praised Murray for his performances at Melbourne Park and believes he can become the best in the world.
Nadal said: "He can be number one at the end of the season.
"When you are able to play five grand slams in a row playing semi-finals or finals, it's only a mental thing."
