    Cavan will not sign off Johnston transfer

    The Cavan County Board have decided not to sign Seanie Johnston's transfer application for fears they would be in breach of GAA Rules.


    Johnston is seeking a move to Kildare after being informed by Cavan manager Val Andrews that he is not part of his plans for the Breffni County.

    The star forward is hoping to move from Cavan Gaels to Kildare outfit St Kevin's, citing the fact that he lives in Straffon. However, the Cavan County Board are unsure if Johnston does indeed reside in Kildare and have refused to sign the transfer application because they believe it would break Rule 6.9 of the GAA's official guide.

    "During the January meeting of Cavan county board's management committee, the issue of an inter-county transfer request was discussed. The committee have decided that they will be unable to assist this particular process as they believe there is a doubt about compliance with rial 6.9 T.O. 2011," a Cavan County Board statement read.

    The Central Competition Controls Committee could step in to resolve Johnston's future, although he will also have the option of taking his case to the Dispute Resolution Authority.
