Tevez distances himself from comments

by Michelle Fortune , 03 February 2012

Carlos Tevez has denied giving an interview in which he hit out at Manchester City for blocking his attempts to move away from the Etihad Stadium.

On Thursday quotes attributed to Tevez emerged in which the striker accused City of treating him unfairly and preventing him from reaching a deal with clubs in Europe.

According to Kicker, Tevez said: "The situation is very strange for me. I wanted to go and had offers from other leagues, from Spain and Italy. But it did not work out in the end because City did not accept any of the offers.

"There were offers from Milan, Inter and PSG. But something always wasn't right."

However, the striker's representatives have denied he made the comments and has gone as far as to suggest the 27-year-old did not speak to the German magazine.

"Regarding an interview published in Kicker magazine today (2.2.12), Carlos Tevez categorically denies both speaking to any journalist about his situation at Manchester City and the quotes attributed to him in the interview," a statement read.

Tevez had been expected to leave City during the January transfer window but despite holding talks with Inter Milan, Paris St Germain and AC Milan the Argentina international remains on the books at the Etihad after failing to agree a deal.
