Clarke confident of ODI glory

Australia captain Michael Clarke feels his side are favourites to win the one-day triangular series but admits it will be tough.

The Baggy Greens face both Indian and Sri Lanka in a round-robin tournament, with the top two playing off in the three-match final.

They will play each nation four times in the group stage and will be looking to keep up their dominance over MS Dhoni's men, who suffered a 4-0 hammering in the recent Test series.

The Twenty20 contests were shared with India bouncing back to claim an eight-wicket victory on Friday to record their first international success on the current trip Down Under.

India and Sri Lanka appear to have sides that are better equipped for the shorter versions of the game at present, while the Aussies have regrouped and now seem to have a pool of players capable of competing with the top sides in all forms of the game.

Clarke knows that it will not be easy to win the upcoming 50-over event but has backed his charges to do the business.

"We have to play at our best to beat both these teams," he said. "They were both in the final of most recent world cup. We're the number one one-day team in the world so I'd like to think we are favourites."

India looked like a side that wanted to be back on the sub-continent after their chastening experience in the Tests but they seemed to have a bit more energy about them in the T20 victory.

And Clarke was impressed with the way the Asians threw themselves into their work to record their first success on Friday.

"India is a very good team," he added. "The way they fielded last night is how you need to field in cricket. Fielding is a big part of our game and I certainly wasn't surprised by how they fielded. They are a very good outfit, there are some really good athletes in that team."
