Ireland cricketer Kevin O'Brien failed to attract a bidder in the Indian Premier League auction on Saturday.
The Ireland World Cup hero went unsold despite starting on a low base price of $50,000.
The news comes a surprise, as O'Brien is hugely popular in India after he scored the fastest century in World Cup history when Ireland beat England in Bangalore in March.
O'Brien followed that up with a 44 delivery century for Gloucestershire last summer, setting a new record for the quickest hundred in English cricket.
Seven England players also failed to attract bids.
James Anderson, Graeme Swann, Ian Bell, Matt Prior, Ravi Bopara, Owais Shah and Luke Wright all remained unsold.
England players Kevin Pietersen, Stuart Broad, Eoin Morgan, Paul Collingwood, Michael Lumb and Dimitri Mascarenhas are already under contract to IPL franchises.
