Bresnan back for England

England could be boosted ahead of the one-day series against Pakistan as all-rounder Tim Bresnan is set to return to the UAE.

The Yorkshire all-rounder had been named in the Test squad for the three-match series which is currently taking place, but had to return to England after suffering a recurrence of his elbow injury.

The 26-year-old had already undergone surgery in early December on the problem but suffered discomfort ahead of the first Test in Dubai last month.

However, he has undergone and passed fitness tests back at Headingley and will now head back to Abu Dhabi.

England are set to play four one-day internationals and three Twenty20 internationals following the Test series - which they appear to be heading towards a 3-0 whitewash - and Bresnan is expected to play in the one-day warm-up match against England Lions on Friday to prove his fitness.

The selectors are expected to name their squad for the shorter formats towards the end of the third Test.
