Brendan Fevola kicked eight goals as Carlton held on to win at Brisbane in the AFL.
The Blues won 16.16 [112] to 16.10 [106] but they endured a nail-biting final quarter as they saw a 30-point lead diminish to just six points, in a thrilling encounter, live on Setanta Sports 2.
The Lions took an early lead through Jared Brennan, and led for the opening quarter of an hour before Heath Scotland's goal put the Blues ahead for the first time.
The Blues began to dominate in midfield and goals from Brad Fisher and Irish utility player Setanta O'hAilpin put the visitors in the driving seat.
Fevola scored four goals in the third quarter as his side looked to be cruising to a comfortable victory, leading 91-61 going into the final quarter.
But the Lions battled hard, with Brennan and Jonathan Brown both scoring four, and an impressive long-range goal by Daniel Rich saw Brisbane rally back to within one goal.
But a comeback was not on the cards and Brett Ratten's side held on secure their third win in four games and climb to fourth.
